Ascend is an illuminated sculptural installation created for an aged care residence in Hampton Park, Victoria. A series of sharp, faceted forms rise through the entrance landscape, creating a distinctive marker for residents and visitors.
During the day, the folded surfaces respond to changing light and reveal a different profile from every angle. After dark, programmed RGB lighting transforms the installation, with a different lighting scheme appearing each night.
The changing colour gives Ascend a new character after sunset, allowing the work to become both sculpture and light within the surrounding landscape.
“Ascend brings a strong sculptural identity to the Hampton Park development. The forms have a striking presence during the day, then take on an entirely different character after dark through the changing light. The installation has become a distinctive and welcoming landmark for residents, visitors and staff.”
